Manufacturing nanoOne: Key Risks and How We Are Addressing Them

Turning nanoOne® from a working prototype into a repeatable product requires more than completing the mechanism. It requires design for manufacturing, controlled assembly, testing, quality assurance and realistic cost planning.

Mechanical complexity

Multiple miniature moving elements create tolerance, friction, wear and assembly challenges. The current engineering work prioritizes simplification, repeatability and fewer failure points before production-intent design is locked.

Fit and sizing

A full-arch device must account for variation in adult dental arches. Final sizing options will be based on validation rather than assumptions, and separate designs would be required for children.

Sealing, cleaning and materials

The mouthpiece environment introduces moisture, toothpaste and repeated cleaning. Material selection, ingress protection, hygiene access and durability must be validated together.

Electronics and power

Battery architecture, charging, thermal behavior, activation and communication features will be tested as an integrated system. Final endurance and charging specifications are not yet confirmed.

Tooling and production

Before tooling, the team must complete production-intent CAD, component and material decisions, assembly planning, quality-control criteria and compliance preparation. Manufacturing partners will be confirmed when commercial and technical agreements permit disclosure.

Schedule risk

Hardware schedules can change when testing reveals a design improvement or compliance requirement. Toothnology’s will publish launch and delivery timing only when supported by validated milestones and a credible production plan.

Our approach

The project will continue to favor transparent updates, documented testing and responsible claims over premature certainty. Kickstarter timing will be announced after the current prototype-validation milestone.
